Shower Thoughts

By Chastity Hu

Number One: “At least one person has thought about killing you in your lifetime.”

You know there are many reasons for this. Two of them being you probably did something to trigger somebody once, or you walked past a serial killer. Ever heard of that thing where you walk past at least one serial killer in your lifetime? Imagine somebody you know being one in the future… you never know.

Number Two: “All your life decisions have led you to where you are now.”

I mean, it's not wrong, if you didn’t decide to scan the QR code or go to this website or scroll all the way down, you’d probably be doing something boring instead of reading the fun and interesting articles the other writers had in store for you guys. I'm glad you guys chose to follow that path, here’s a star ⭐ :).

Number Three: “Why is a cookie called a cookie when you bake it and why is a bacon called a bacon when you cook it?"

Cookies are baked and bacon is cooked. Why are cookies called cook-ie when you bake them, and why is bacon called bake-on when you cook it? Well, the word “bacon'' originally came from the earliest stages of German language, the word being “bacho,” which means “buttock”. But after some time it turned to “backoz” translating to “back”, then “bacun” which means back meat. In the 16th century it was then called “bacoun” meaning cured pork. And for cookie, it came from the dutch word “koekje” which means small/little cake. All this still doesn’t really explain why the English language decided to give cook-ie the pronunciation of cook and bacon the pronunciation of bake in it.
